Oh man, this session was so special to me for so many reasons. This beautiful mama is my dear friend and uber talented photographer, Arden, of Arden Prucha Photography. Our friendship has grown over the past couple years just from being fellow photographers (it all started with her precious daughter, Lake). What started out as a mututal love of the business grew into a true friendship. We chat on a weekly (okay more like daily) basis. Our kids have played. Our families have spent time together. We are real friends.
When Arden found out she was expecting number 5, she called me and we talked about the shock and excitement and everything in between. Just 3 short weeks later, I called her to tell her that I too was pregnant with a surprise baby! How amazing that our stories would take an unplanned turn that would bring us even closer together. Our little ones were going to be so close in age. We were going to be pregnant together. Going through a lot of the same things at the same time. If you have ever been pregnant then you know how fun it is to go through pregnancy with a friend.
Anyways, towards the end of her pregnancy, Arden asked me if I would consider shooting baby girls’ First 48 session. Of course I was totally honored for her to ask but I also had to consider my own pregnancy. What if she carried beyond 40 weeks? What if I delivered early? I didn’t want to commit to this session knowing that it truly might not pan out. So we decided to just leave it be and play things by ear.
As it turns out, sweet baby girl arrived a few days early and I just happened to have an opening and childcare already lined up…Can you say, God has perfect timing or what?!?! Anyways, everything worked out just perfectly and I was able to sneak over to the hospital and photograph this beautiful baby girl’s First 48 session just hours before they were set to go home from the hospital.
It was a complete honor to capture such a precious time for my dear friend. It was also very eye opening… Since my dear friend had delivered her baby girl that could only mean one thing…that I was next! Eek, I am next!
