This session was so very special and unlike any other. For starters, it was in Oklahoma City (yes, I travel). Secondly, I brought my littlest along for the ride… yes, I had my 6 month old present for a newborn session. BUT, what made this session SO special was that it was my dearest friend that I was capturing (remember her amazing maternity session?).
My sweet friend and I only go back 6 years although it feels as if we have been friends a lifetime. We met the way many moms meet these days- through our children. Our oldest children were in a preschool class together when they were two. By the end of that school year we were close. By the time the following school year began we were even closer. Time marched on. She had another baby. I had another baby. We had lots and lots and LOTS of playdates, workout dates, lunch dates, birthday parties, and school parties. She moved away. She moved again. I had another baby. And then she had another baby. We have seen each other through a LOT. When she found out she was expecting #3, I knew without a doubt that I would travel up to Oklahoma to capture their new bundle. Regardless of the fact that I was pregnant and knew by that time I would have a baby in tow. We were best friends. I would make it work.
Sweet baby number 3. She was prayed for and longed for and yearned for. She is the answer to years of prayers. She is a complete angel baby. Who arrived naturally and very quickly I might add. Sure, she may have been overdue but oh-ma-goodess she was worth the wait. She is squishy and delicious and has an amazing head of hair and I miss her so much already!
As you can imagine, this session went down a little different than most. There was a lot more chatter. There was a break for brunch (best breakfast burrito EVER!). There was a break to get my little to eat and nap. Her bigs wanted to play with me and my little a lot. The pace was just different. Was it challenging to stay focused with my fussy mama’s boy in the other room? Sure, a little. Was it challenging to get her bigs to cooperate and stop being silly with me because they are oh-so-comfortable with me? Sure, sometimes. Was it a challenge to stop shooting and just relax and enjoy being with my friend? Absolutely. After several hours, I finally called it quits because I knew if I didn’t I would just keep shooting and shooting and everyone was pretty tired. Happy but tired.
This session was amazing. It was such an honor to spend time with my precious friend. And to capture such special moments with her family. It was wonderful to watch her kiddos, who I love as my own, fall in love with their precious baby sister. Looking through all these images pretty much sends my heart into overdrive.
Love you friend! xoxo
